Receive latest updates on your Wii

Over the last few weeks, I've been working on a new feature for the site, which will send a message to Nintendo Wii Consoles whenever a new Virtual Console game is added. In order to receive these notifications, you must register your Wii on the new Subscriptions Page. For those of you without Wiis, you can use this same page to sign up to receive updates via email.

Before you sign up your Wii, you first must set the notification system up as a contact, so messages will get through to you. You can do this by

Turn your Wii on and go to the message board
Go to Create New Message
Go to Address Book
Find a empty space in your Address Book and click on it
Select Other
Add own@wiirate.co.uk as the email address, WiiRate as the nickname and attach a Mii if you wish.
There should now be a contact called WiiRate in the empty space you clicked earlier

Once that's done, you can sign your Wii up to the updates (You must have an account and be logged in to do this)

Go to the Subscriptions Page
In the Wii section on the right hand side, enter your Wii code.
Press submit.

Your Wii will then be sent a confirmation message, with a link to click on in order to complete your subscription. Once you follow that, you will start receiving news of the latest Virtual Console updates on your Wii.

RSS Feeds

As part of the continual updates to this site, I have just finished adding RSS feeds for the virtual console game list. When browsing the games index, when using a modern browser (such as Firefox 2.0+ or Internet Explorer 7, you'll notice a red glowing icon toward the top right of your window.

If you click on this, depending on where you are, you'll either be taken straight to the All games RSS feed or you'll get an option to go to the all games feed or the feed specific to the current Console you're browsing (e.g. if you're viewing an N64 game, you'll be offered the Nintendo 64 games feed.) If you add these feeds to your feedreader, they'll automatically update allowing you to quickly see which games have been added each week without having to visit our site.
